Chongqing is a famous historical and cultural city in China. It has a written history of over 3,000 years, and is the birthplace of Ba-yu Culture. Since Jialing River was called 'Yu Water' in the past, Chongqing is also referred to as 'Yu'. Dazu rock carvings

The Dazu rock carving group includes more than 100,000 rock carvings at more than 70 locations. The grand scale, exquisite art, rich content and good preservation of the rock carvings are rare in the world. Among the Dazu rock carvings, the rock carvings at Baoding Mountain and Beishan Cliff are the most famous, representing the highest level of the art of rock carving from the Tang and Song periods. Among the Dazu rock carvings, Buddhist statues are dominant, followed by Confucian and Taoist statues, demonstrating the filial piety, integrity and etiquette of China and being a model of late rock carving art in China. The Dazu rock carvings have amazed many domestic and foreign dignitaries and celebrities and won their high praise. Ciqikou is also called 'Small Chongqing'. The old town has 12 streets, along which there are many Ming- and Qing-style buildings. The ground is paved with slate and all kinds of stores are found on both sides of the streets. Business and trade are centralized on the large piers and Jinrong Street, close to the piers. Ciqikou is the birthplace of Sha-Ci culture and is named after the porcelain produced here. The porcelain produced at Ciqikou is of good quality and a wide variety is available. The most distinctive is the teahouse.In the past, there were teahouses everywhere in this millennium town. In the past, sailors, Paoge Gang Group members and other people liked drinking tea at teahouses; therefore, teahouses became places for all kinds of people to gather. At present, teahouses are still found in Ciqikou. Along a 100-meter-long old street, there are 13 teahouses, preserving the ancient style, and all of them are full of guests.

Chongqing has always been famous for folk handicrafts. Sichuan embroidery, together with Suzhou, Hunan and Guangdong embroidery, have been called China's four famous embroideries since the beginning of the Southern Song Dynasty. Rongchang folding fans were exported during the Qing Dynasty. In addition, all kinds of bamboo weaving, brocades of Tujia Nationality, Long Water hardware and Three Gorges inkstones all have strong ethnic and local character.

The popularity of Chongqing noodles is no less than that of hot pot. In Chongqing, noodles from the stalls at the roadside are extraordinarily hot. Hot and sour sweet potato noodles

Hot and sour sweet potato noodles are a traditional snack of Chongqing. You can see people sitting on chairs at the roadside and eating hot and sour sweet potato noodles anywhere. The major means of public transit in the main urban area of Chongqing is the bus. Buses are classified into ordinary buses and air-conditioned buses. The fare for an ordinary bus is one yuan and that for an air-conditioned bus is two yuan. The operation hours of the buses are 5:30 to 22:00. In addition, there are also some small buses, air-conditioned buses, circle-line sightseeing buses, peak-hour buses and midnight snack buses.


Currently, most taxis in Chongqing are Amagatarai SX4 (sedan), followed by the Chang'an Zhixiang and a small number of Antelopes. During the daytime, the starting taxi fare is 8 yuan for 3 km and 1.8 yuan for each additional kilometer. At nighttime (22:00-6:00), the starting taxi fare is 8.9 yuan and 2.25 yuan is charged per additional kilometer. The 3 yuan gas surcharge does not apply.


The metro is an important part of Chongqing's rail transit. A 'one man one ticket' system is implemented. Passengers cannot stay in the metro for more than 180 minutes after entering a station by swiping their cards and before leaving a station. The highest ticket price for transfer is 9 yuan.
